    @itlk2angels Thank you!

    @BryanMarcelLifestyle It definitely opened up new pathways that were previously shut or never even thought possible. My goal is to enable others to see what possible and perhaps a means for them to get there as well. It might not necessarily be for them rejoining the military, becoming a firefighter, or running marathons, but discovering their goal is definitely a great first step.

    Congrats to the handsome guy who lost all the weight! I know you have to feel better physically & mentally. I always do when I lose.

    I’m proud for you. You have a new lease on life.

    @BorkGonsam Yep, if you are only going to stay on the diet for a few weeks, you are only causing yourself angst and needless case of Induction flu for temporary results. If you plan to follow the diet (“there is not after”), you will see the results you seek.

  • BorkGonsam says:

    This diet has a bad reputation from people who dont go through with it, It fucks with the metabolism, and other health parts, but if u stay with a plan for along time after you lose ur weight It works.

    @rmsolympic1 You can watch my exercise videos for a more complete answer, but the best answer besides my anecdotal testimony that it works for me and my weight lifting is that Olympic strength coach Charles Poliquin utilizes ketogenic diets with most of his athletes.

    @herrera8769 No problem… I am glad it could help motivate you!

  • herrera8769 says:

    Wow! Great motivator! I topped out at 310 started the Atkins on June 1st. I’ve lost 23 lbs ! I am focused. My goal weight is 200. God bless! Thanks for posting this.

    I am interested in doing this. But I do intense weight-lifting and wonder how I would get the energy to lift weights if I cannot eat carbs. I don’t eat a lot of carbs in general, but I do eat potatoes for breakfast on the days I lift iron – I found that the carbs in the potatoes gives me lots of energy for lifting. Is there a way for me to do this diet and get similar energy levels?

    Great Video

  • bowulf says:

    @alphacause I agree. It is really scientific, and my videos pale in consideration to it. I try to make my videos as a pathway to them finding the real experts or perhaps making them more palatable to understand in a 3-6 minute chunk. Gary Taubes has done with world a complete favor in compiling that information into one large tome.

  • bowulf says:

    @cherriepoppy I had glad I could provide that inspiration and proof it does work. I was just as desperate 6 years ago and barely believed it was possible, but I had found a few examples that showed me what was possible. The rest as they say is history and a bit of perseverance. :-)

    @YOW1965 Like I said in my other comment, I only ever had the problem or metallic taste 1 or 2 days. I only had to drink water and brush my teeth, and any problems went away. You can chew gum, but be sure to count each against your daily sweetener limit of 3.

  • YOW1965 says:

    So, how did you deal with meat breath? I have a bad case of it and it is gross! Any hints you can share?

  • alphacause says:

    @bowulf You are absolutely correct about that. I was wondering if you have read Gary Taubes’ book “Good Calories, Bad Calories”? He is a science writer, who goes into the biochemistry of why the Atkins’ diet works, and gives numerous examples from doctors, missionaries, and anthropologist who have encountered native people, who mostly live in hunter gatherer environments that parallel Atkins’s guidelines. It has a wealth of information that can be used against Atkins’ detractors.

    @fopink Thanks!

    @alphacause It is certain that none of those tribes are filling there diet with refined sugars like added sugars and HFCS and refined grains. There is nothing natural about a diet filled with those like Standard American Diet.

  • alphacause says:

    @bowulf You are an inspiration! We even see the efficacy of a protein rich/fat rich low carbohydrate diet in large populations. There are tribes all over the world NOW that don’t have access to carbohydrates, and subsist on a diet of meat, nuts, seeds, and vegetables. And even among the SEDENTARY elders who no longer hunt, they are slim and suffer no degenerative diseases. One doesn’t need a degree in nutrition to understand this, one only need look at a National Geographic special.

  • YOW1965 says:

    Amazing! Congrats and thanks for sharing. You are an inspiration!

  • fopink says:

    wow! Im utterly impressed. looking sharp

  • NihonjinLove says:

    You are an inspiration!!! Thank you for this, for showing to the world that it can be done and that a low carb way of life is indeed what we were meant for.
    I will be looking through your recipe videos, and hopefully will try a lot of them out.
    Congratulations on a healthy life :-)
